Piano
Hilary Davan Wetton is one of Britain’s most versatile and dynamic conductors.
Both choral and orchestral repertoire has featured in his wide-ranging career, and he is particularly admired for his interpretations of Haydn and Mendelssohn, as well as English music of the 20th century.
Acclaimed recordings include those with the City of London Choir, Guildford Choral Society, Holst Singers, London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. He is a regular guest conductor with choirs and orchestras all over Britain and overseas. He is also an organist and has a celebrated duo with trumpeter, Crispian Steele-Perkins. Hilary’s commitment to young people includes rôles as Director of Music at St Paul’s Girls School, Tonbridge and Stowe Schools, as well as posts as conductor of the Edinburgh, Birmingham and Buckinghamshire Youth Orchestras. His book Reflections on Conducting was published in 2022.
Strings
Jessica has recorded and toured internationally as a professional violinist and member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and Principal 2nd violin of the Orchestra of St. John’s for twenty-five years.
Jessica is passionate about playing and teaching music in a variety of styles and has worked with Madonna, Led Zeppelin, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Opera House. She has performed in a variety of venues including Carnegie and Wigmore Halls, Sydney and Royal Opera Houses and pop arenas in London and Dubai.
Coming from a family of innovative string teachers, who were the first to start the Suzuki method in Europe, Jessica played in the Cork, Irish and European Youth Orchestras before moving to London to take up a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where she had chamber music lessons with the Amadeus String Quartet. She is Head of Strings at Eltham College, London and taught violin and viola at Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London for fifteen years. She has been a tutor on National Youth Orchestra Outreach days, gives classes on orchestral technique, works with the Autistic society and regularly plays chamber music.
Wind and brass
Sally Adams is a well-known and highly regarded flute and recorder player and teacher who studied the flute with Avrill Williams and the recorder with Doris da Costa.
She has written a number of very popular flute teaching books. Her tutor, Flute Basics (published by Faber Music), is especially designed to stimulate, educate and amuse the young beginner.
They also include the ‘Music Through Time’ series and many other study and repertoire books. She has had a number or pieces written for her, including the Associated Board’s publication ‘A Miscellany for Flute’, by Michael Rose. When not engaged in musical activities, Sally can be found riding her two horses.

What about an accompanist?
You will need to arrange your own accompanist.
Our official Festival accompanist Craig Greene will also be available – please contact him here. It is likely that Craig will be booked up quickly, so contact him early to avoid disappointment.

Will there be a warm-up room?
There will be a warm-up rooms available (more information soon)
Can I enter the Festival on multiple instruments?
Yes, you can enter as many times as you like but only once per instrument.
(Each entry is charged separately)
How do I pay?
When you complete the form, you will receive an email with an invoice with details to pay via bank transfer. Cheques and cash are also accepted.
What is the prize winners’ concert?
The prize winners’ concert will take place in March in Buckingham to celebrate many of the
musicians who took part in the Buckingham Regional Music Festival.
